The Kingmaker

From the collection No More Betrayals

The oracle speaks:

“O’ Kingmaker,

You enthrone and dethrone

With skill and at will.

But does the throne whisper your name?

“Do make and break,

You are a mere servant of history.

Though temper your dreams of ascension

For they will be your demise.

“Do also know that your

Cunning inventions

Are precedents to be applied

On your judgment day.”

“O’ good people of the land,

Hail the king but be wary of the kingmaker.”

And the good people ask in unison:

“But who is the Kingmaker?”
